Obituary

Haverhill, NH – Ada (Hall) Guck, 99, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 5, 2013. She was born May 27, 1914, the fourth child of Mabel (Yelland) Hall and John Thomas Hall in Copper City, Michigan. Ada attended the Calumet and Hecla Mine schools and was a graduate of Ravenswood Medical Center School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a surgical nurse in Chicago and White Plains, New York, and then as an NST (Nurse School Teacher) in the Ardsley, New York, School System before retiring to Haverhill, New Hampshire in the early 1970's. Ada was a member of Rondo, Haverhill Garden Club, Haverhill Historical Society, Haverhill Congregational Church and a former trustee of the Haverhill Public Library. She had volunteered at Grafton County Nursing Home and Cottage Hospital. In 1940 she married Calumet school mate Homer L. Guck (deceased). Ada is survived by her brother Henry Hall and sister Grace Wurster, two sons, Brian H. Guck and Philip T. Garner, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Haverhill Public Library, Haverhill Congregational Church, Haverhill Historical Society, or Haverhill Alumni Hall. A celebration service is planned for Tuesday, May 27th, 2014, Ada's 100th birthday.
