Obituary

Warren, NH- Alan Sprague, 56, of Lake Tarleton Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Alan was born on January 27, 1958, in Springfield, VT, to Howard D. and Corinne E. (Estey) Sprague. He was a 1976 graduate of the Springfield school systems. In his younger years, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout under his father s troop. On September 11, 1993, he married Cheryl Guthrie. Alan worked as a dairy farmer all of his life, starting in his teens. Volunteering for emergency services was his passion since high school. He has served on various fire departments as a firefighter and EMT in Vermont and New Hampshire, including the Warren Fire Department, the Reading, VT Fire Department and FAST squad and the West Weathersfield, VT ambulance service. He enjoyed vintage tractors, snowmobiles and hunting. He was predeceased by his father, Howard Sprague. Alan is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cheryl Sprague of Warren; two sons, Richard A. Sprague and wife Kristina of South Reading, VT and Ronald J. Sprague and girlfriend Jess Trask of Warren; four grandchildren, Matthew, Caleb, Jocelyn and soon to arrive Clayton; his mother, Corinne E. Sprague of Springfield; a sister, Brenda L. Kelly and husband Roger of Springfield; and several cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11 AM at the Warren United Methodist Church with Rev. Mel Hansen, officiating. It is requested that any fire department or EMS members planning to attend, wear their Class A or dress uniforms.
