Former Peacham resident Albert Calvin Petrie, Jr., 63, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 following a brief and unexpected illness in Fort Collins, CO.
Albert was born October 27, 1952 in St. Johnsbury, VT to parents Albert C. and Marilyn (Hagen) Petrie. He was raised in Peacham, VT and graduated from Danville High School.
Albert had been living in Colorado since 1978 and settled close to the Rocky Mountains. He earned an Associate's Degree in 1988 and became interested in electronics. He worked for Woodward, Inc. in Fort Collins, CO as an electronics development technician. In work and life, Albert was a reliable problem solver who tackled any challenge set in front of him.
Albert invested much of his time outdoors and in home improvement projects. He enjoyed going to the driving range and taking walks around the local lakes near his home. Albert was also a member of the Harley Owners Group, and his love of motorcycles translated to a way of life. He valued an open road and where it could lead.
He was a loving father, brother and son, who sought to take care of his daughters and share the humor he found in life with those who knew him well.
He is preceded in death by his father Albert, Sr., on October 6, 1991, and his brother Robert C. Petrie on August 31, 2009.
Albert is survived by his two daughters, Lesley Petrie of Santa Cruz, CA and Kerry Petrie of Lakewood, CO; mother Marilyn Petrie of Peacham; four sisters, Carol McMullen and husband Clifford of New Gloucester, ME, Sandra Greenwood and husband Richard of East Peacham, Sharon and George Mudge of Beverly Hills, FL, Lori Taylor and husband Robert of Dunnellon, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 8th at 1 PM in the Peacham Village Cemetery with a memorial service on Saturday, April 9th at 2 PM in the First Baptist Church of Groton, 1115 Scott Memorial Highway, Groton, VT with Pastor Dennis Walton officiating.
