Alden C. Thomspon, 98, of Haverhill, NH died on Monday, January 23rd, 2023, at the Grafton County Nursing Home.
Born November 22nd, 1924, in Bradford, Vermont to Carl E and Bernice E (Slack) Thompson from Goshen Road, Bradford, Vermont. He married Jeannette R. Wheeler, April 23rd, 1944. They lived and farmed with his parents until 1959. He then left farming and moved to South Court Street in Woodsville, New Hampshire where he had his own trucking business hauling for locals.
He worked for Daniels Transportation in Lebanon, New Hampshire hauling U.S Mail round trip from White River Junction, Vermont to Boston, Massachusetts, then from there he went on to work for St. Johnsbury Trucking. Alden had moved to Hartland, Vermont until retiring and moved back to Pine Park in Haverhill, NH.
He had many hobbies and talents. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and camping, he was a member of Good Sam Camping Club. Loved family gatherings and get togethers of any kind, and chocolate. He also loved spending his time snowmobiling, hunting and especially fishing trips on his boat (Jenny 2) with his boys, which were not complete without his favorite Koffee Kup Donuts.
He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years and mother to his children, Jeannette; his second wife, Millie; siblings, Irwin C. Thomspon, and Lucille Stockman; grandchildren, Lucas Thompson and Tammy (Gadwah) Murphy; and a son in law, Dean Gadwah.
Alden is survived by his daughter, Bernice (Bunny) Gadwah of Lebanon, NH; sons, Dean and wife Janice of Woodsville, NH, Carl (Tommy) and Marguerite of Barre, VT, Peter Sr. and Doris of Benton, NH, Wayne and wife Beth of Piermont, NH, Rodney and wife Teal of Waynesboro, PA, Richard and wife Lori of Bath, NH, and Jeffrey of Bethlehem, NH; 20 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
He was a loving, caring, and giving man who will be missed so much by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers of Grafton County Nursing Home for his comfort and care during his stay there.

There will be a graveside service at the Ladd Street Cemetery on May 18th and 1 PM.
