Alfred Joslyn
Jr.
June 22, 2023
Newbury, VT.— Alfred Robert Joslyn, Jr. passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, June 22nd.
Al enjoyed spending time in the woods and pastures of Newbury, gardening, building rock walls, attending the local auctions, antiquing, and riding around the neighborhood on his red "convertible" Farmall tractor. He loved his grandchildren, especially spending time with his nearby grandson, Harlan, "just dubbin'" in the garden or with the tractors.
Many have praised Al's creativity and dedication to maintaining a beautiful outdoor space at home in Newbury. He enjoyed keeping busy and worked hard to landscape unique gardens: creating rock circles and cairns, green wood arbors and fencing, driftwood wind chimes, and other natural art around the house. Al loved to give auction-purchased treasures and his artistic creations (many of which were hand-carved from wood) to friends and loved ones.
Al is survived by his wife, Lee Adrien-Joslyn of Newbury, VT.; his daughter, Jessica McHugh and husband, Shawn of Livonia, NY.; his son, Robb Joslyn of West Henrietta, NY.; his stepson, James Gilbert and wife, Teresa of Menifee, CA.; his stepdaughters, Carrie Fredrick and husband, Allen of Baxter, TN., Kelley Sanchez and husband, Jimmy of Fort Worth, TX., and Danielle Clayton and husband, Geoffrey of Chelsea, VT.; his sister, Diana Henderson and husband, Harry of Chester, VT.; his nephew, Jeff Henderson of Nantucket, MA.; his mother, Dora Joslyn of Windsor, VT.; and his eleven grandchildren. Al is predeceased by his father, Alfred Joslyn, Sr.
Per Al's wishes, there will be no memorial service, but in honor of his memory, please be encouraged to make a donation to Second Chance Animal Rescue, 1517 Meadow St., Littleton, NH, 03561. Al cared a great deal for animals and would be happy to know that through generous contributions made to this animal welfare nonprofit, his name and memory will endure.
