Obituary

Bath, NH Alfred Onofrio Chick Maggio, 83, died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. He was born in Valley Stream, NY, September 3, 1929, the son of Dominick and Irma (Junge) Maggio. Alfred graduated from Valley Stream Central High School, class of 1949. He served with U.S. Army Air Corp until his honorable discharge in August of 1951. Chick married Patricia Ann Burns on May 23, 1954. He worked as an installer for New York Telephone Company, and later was promoted to a foreman / manager, working there from 1951 until his retirement in 1984. Chick and Patricia moved to Bath, NH in 1989. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, caring for his home, wood working, travelling, and camping. He was a communicant of St. Joseph s Catholic Church in Woodsville. He was also a member of the Bath Volunteer Fire Department from 1990 1996 and the Bath Planning Board from 1994 2005. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia A. (Burns) Maggio of Bath; his six children, Laura Bradley and husband Frank of Malverne, NY, Barbara A. Caridi and husband Robert of Malverne, NY, Thomas P. Maggio of Bath, NH, Christopher M. Maggio and wife Penelope of Valley Stream, NY, James D. Maggio and wife Jennifer of Rocky Point, NY, and Carolyn A. Argento and husband Frank of Lawrence, NY; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be on Monday, February 4, from 7 to 9 PM, at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, February 7, at St. Brigid s Catholic Church, Westbury, Long Island, NY. Burial will follow in the Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, Long Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or St. Jude s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
