Barnet, VT- Aline Rubie Faris, 96, died peacefully at her home on Monday, June 27, 2016.
Aline was born in Peacham, VT on October 12, 1919, to Charles Wesley and Lillian R. (Wilson) Thresher. She graduated from Peacham Academy, Class of 1935, at the age of 15. On May 15, 1938, she married Elmer L. Faris. Aline always said that two criteria of finding a good husband were that he go to church and he like cats.
Aline was a faithful attendee of the Reformed Presbyterian Society of the Walter Harvey Meeting House, The Presbyterian Church of Barnet at West Barnet, and of the Peacham Congregational Church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at The Presbyterian Church of Barnet at West Barnet. Aline was a child of the Great Depression. She enjoyed berry picking and sold raspberries for 12.5 cents per quart because they were "picked clean." She cured and smoked ham and bacon, canned and froze her garden goods, and cooked a lot of deer meat. Aline enjoyed attending meetings with Elmer and would naturally engage in conversation with others. She was instrumental in reactivating the Peacham Academy Alumni Association. Staying in communication with family and friends with her impeccable penmanship was a priority.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Elmer L. Faris on October 6, 1998; her siblings, Edwin "Ted," Thresher, Wilson Thresher, Earl Thresher, Benjamin Thresher, Eleanor Collins, Albert Thresher, and John Thresher.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Nutbrown and husband John of East St. Johnsbury, VT; three sons, Kenneth A. "Tony" Faris and wife Mary of Barnet, Douglas C. Faris and wife Ann Todoki of Honolulu, HI, and Theodore G. Faris of Barnet; four grandchildren, Tiffany Duval, Brian Tremblay, Byron Faris, and Naomi Faris; two great grandchildren, Hunter Duval and Camille Tremblay; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
