Allen E Smith, 77, of Topsham, VT, Passed Away on Thursday, May 26 th , 2022, at NVRH.
Allen was born on the family farm in Sheffield VT on October 20 th , 1944, to Harley Eugene and Angie May (Gilman) Smith.
On May 20 th , 1995, he married the first girl he ever kissed, Elaine, to whom he remained ever devoted.
Allen served in the Vermont National guard from 1964-1971. After he was honorably discharged, he began his mechanical career at granite city tools. From there he moved to Cameron's in East Barre Vt. He finished out his career at Walker Motors in Woodsville NH, where he worked for 32 years. He was a long-time member of the Woodsville/Wells River fourth of July committee, a volunteer firefighter for the towns of Ryegate and Topsham, VT, and a tech inspector for Bear Ridge Speedway. In his spare time, he raced cars at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford VT and Northeastern Speedway in Waterford, VT. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and the Hallmark channel.
The thing he loved the most, was spending time with Family. He was a beloved Dad, Granddad, Great Granddad, Great Great Granddad and beloved Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was a huge animal lover and adopted many dogs throughout his years, namely Joe, Buddy (Honorably) Jade and Molly, to name a few.
He is predeceased by his parents along with his sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Peewee Butler and brother-in-law Marvin Bailey.
He is survived by his sister Virginia Bailey of Barnet, Vt; a daughter, Camille and Husband Donald Carbee of Jackson, TN; along with their 5 kids and 13 Grand kids; daughter Leah Smith and husband Todd Colby of East Ryegate, VT, along with their 3 kids and 2 Grand kids; daughter Nicole Smith of Woodsville, NH; daughter Peggy and husband Frank Bowen of Corinth, VT; along with their 5 kids and 2 grand kids; a son Jimmy Covey of Newbury, VT; and a very special Great, Great granddaughter, Eliana.
There will be calling hours held at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, 03785 on June 18 th , 2022, from 6 to 8 PM.
