Bath, NH- On the night of the beautiful full moon, Audrey Laurel Robinson, 100, passed from this life, surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after a period of illness. Audrey was born on July 5, 1926, in Ramsgate, NSW, Australia to Herbert Thomas George and Alice Dulcie Maude George.

Audrey grew up in Bankstown, NSW Australia amid the Great Depression, and later, in 1939, WWII. Leaving school at age 14, she found employment in a clothing factory manufacturing uniforms for the Australian Army. Feeling a strong desire to further support her country, at age 18 she joined the Australian Women’s Army. During this time, she was taught how to drive and through this, became an Ambulance driver for the Army. She served in this capacity until the end of the war. In late 1943, she met her future husband, Fred K. Robinson. Fred was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, on the Pacific Theatre. After being wounded in action in New Guinea, Fred spent the remainder of his service in Australia; Fred and Audrey were set up on a blind date, and they continued to date until, after much red tape, were married on February 12, 1945, at Saint Paul’s Church of England in Bankstown, NSW Australia. Fred returned to the United States in late November 1945. Audrey followed, leaving Sydney, Australia on April 7, 1946, via the S.S. Monterey and docked in San Francisco, CA on April 22. The following day, she boarded a train and crossed the country, arriving at Grand Central Station in New York, NY on April 28. The last leg of her journey was by rail to Meriden, Connecticut, where Fred was waiting for her. The couple traveled by car to Fred’s hometown of North Haverhill, NH. They lived for 4 years in a small apartment over the old Aldrich General Store, where Fred was employed. During this time, Fred and Audrey built their own home on Cedar Lane, where Audrey lived for 80 years. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Judith Linda Robinson, on May 24, 1947, and their youngest daughter, Laurel Ann Robinson, on April 27, 1960. They were a close-knit family who loved each other dearly.

Audrey held many different jobs throughout her life. When she first arrived in New Hampshire, she worked as a waitress at The Happy Hour Restaurant. She then secured a job as a school cook at the James R. Morrill Elementary school and held this position for many years. The last of her employment was held at Grafton County Nursing Home. She started at the County as a housekeeper and took a GED class sponsored by the nursing home and received her high school diploma. From there, she was trained as a nurse’s aide, and upon her retirement in 2000 at age 74, she was the Director of Restorative services.

While at home, Audrey took pride in her flowers, both outside with her lilacs, peonies, and other perennials, and inside with her African violets and Christmas Cacti. She enjoyed cooking hearty, nutritious meals for her family, and was constantly baking delicious treats to share with her friends and loved ones. Audrey’s backyard was a safe place where Judy and Laury’s friends were always welcome. At times, there were so many children in the yard that passersby thought that Audrey had a daycare center. Reading was always something that she enjoyed, and she loved sharing this love of books with her grandchildren, and even her great-grandchildren. Audrey’s other hobbies included knitting, sewing, and word puzzles.

Audrey was pre-deceased by her parents, Herbert Thomas George in 1943, and her mother Alice Dulcie Maude George in 1969. Her Husband, Fred K. Robinson in 2011, a granddaughter Davalyn in 2018, her daughter Judith Stimson in 2021, and her granddaughter Robin Heywood in 2025. Also pre-deceased were 7 brothers: Albert, Edward ‘Ted’, John, William ‘Bill’, Leo, Harry, and Neville George, and two sisters Sylvia Askin and Dulcie “Toots” Mayberry.

Survivors include: A Daughter, Laurel Theriault (and husband Paul) of Monroe, NH. Grandchildren: Carmen Stimson-Graham of Bath, NH, Kinsley Sicard (and husband Nathan) of Barton, VT, Jaime Anderson (and husband Ryan) of Monroe, NH, and a Grandson-in-law Sean Heywood. Great-Grandchildren: Caitlin Fullerton (and husband Justin), Michael Vogt, Carrie Vogt, Livinnia Anderson, Lucien Sicard and Daela Sicard. Great-Great Grandchildren: Jackson Fullerton and Piper Fullerton.

Nieces: Linda Blake, Randi Gaetano (and husband Kevin), Michele DeGennaro, Kailey Gaetano, Oliva Tangredi, Sophie Tangredi, and Barbara DeRosia.

Nephews: David Robinson (and wife Mary-Ann), Martin Tangredi, Kevin Gaetano, and Thomas DeRosia, along with many other special family and friends.

Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, and cousins, living in Australia.

A Celebration of Life for Audrey will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 am at Audrey’s home at 21 Cedar Lane in North Haverhill, NH for anyone who would like to come share their memories and celebrate the extraordinary life that Audrey lived for the past 100 years.
