Groton, VT Barbara Dinkel, 67, died December 30, 2009, at her residence following a period of failing health. She was born in Barre, VT, on April 4, 1942, to Alden and Lorretta (Baker) Brooks. She worked at numerous restaurants in Sarasota, FL, and most recently had been a cook at the Wal Mart in Sarasota. She had spent most of her life in the Sarasota area and had returned to Vermont in 2007 and most recently had lived in Groton, VT. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Dinkel in 2001, by her son Michael Brooks in 2001, a sister Betty Balestra and a brother Bradley Brooks. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Cioffi of Ticonderoga, NY; her brothers Richard Brooks of Groton, Timothy Brooks of Rutland, VT, Jeff Brooks of Barre, VT, and Steven Brooks of Keene, NH; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at 11 AM at the Groton United Methodist Church with Pastor Candace Ricker officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Corinth Cemetery.
