Obituary

Piermont, NH – Barbara Ann Stevens, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6 th , 2020 just days after her 89 th birthday, following a period of failing health at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH with her husband by her side.

Barbara was born in Ashland, MA on August 23, 1931 to William and Vera (Moffett) Weaver.

On July 3, 1948, Barb married Donald Stevens. Together, Barbara and Donald celebrated their 72 nd wedding anniversary.

Barb was a lifelong resident of Piermont prior to moving to North Haverhill in 1996, where they lived on French Pond for many years, before relocating back to Piermont. Barb and Don wintered in Riverview, FL for over 10 years.

Barb was an active member of the Piermont Congregational Church and belonged to the Women's Fellowship.  She belonged to the Piermont Fire Department Auxiliary and she served for 20 years as the leader of the Jolly Farmers boys 4-H club of Piermont. Barb was a dedicated member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #5245 in North Haverhill for many years and also served as President for several years.

As an LPN, Barb worked at Dick's House in Hanover and for Dr. Osadchy in Bradford, VT and finally, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill for five years. Many will remember seeing her working at Gould's Country Store and The Round Barn, both in Piermont.

Barb was very talented and enjoyed many different crafts. You seldom saw her empty handed. She was always giving and working on special projects such as crocheting, knitting, ceramics, sewing, quilting, baking and the list goes on.

Barbara truly cherished time spent with family and friends, but her greatest joy was spent on the dance floor, with her beloved husband Donald.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Donald Stevens of Piermont; two sons, Thomas Everett Stevens of Haverhill, NH and Bryce Alfred Stevens also of Haverhill, NH; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren; a sister Shirley Kiser of Utah; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was proceeded by two granddaughters, Michelle Stevens-Metcalf and Pamela Delaney; her daughter-in-law Kathleen Stevens; sister, Arlene Kelly; and by four brothers, Vern, Wallace, Robert, and James Weaver.

There will be a graveside service in Piermont at the South Lawn Cemetery, on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11 am. All attending will need to practice social distancing and masks are required.
