North Haverhill, NH Barbara Jean Thayer, 61, formerly of Brownhill Road, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Glencliff Home, Benton, NH, after a courageous battle with Huntington s Disease. Barbara was born in Laconia, NH, July 16, 1948, a daughter of Fred and Elaine (Browning) Townsley. She graduated from Laconia High School, Class of 1966 and Keene State College, majoring in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics class in Tilton for several years. After moving to North Haverhill she was employed as the department head of housekeeping at the Grafton County Home. She was very active in 4-H, showing horses, cattle, and exhibiting in sewing and cooking. Barbara enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and her horses and pets. Barbara married Howard Thayer on July 4, 1980. She was predeceased by her father, Fred Townsley and her father-in-law, Orman Red Thayer. Survivors include her husband, Howard Thayer of North Haverhill; her mother, Elaine Townsley of Laconia, NH; her sister, Sara Hardy of Hampton, VA; her brother, Dudley Townsley of Laconia, NH; her mother-in-law, Isabelle Thayer of North Haverhill; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on Friday, December 4, at 1 PM at the Center Haverhill Cemetery, with Pastor Susan Ellery of the United Methodist Church in North Haverhill, NH officiating.
