Obituary

Wells River, VT Barbara V. Thompson, 67, of Leighton Hill Road, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, January 30, 1945, the daughter of Ralph P. and Mary P. (Doyle) Venezia Sr. Barbara graduated from Norwalk High School, class of 1963. She moved to Wells River on October 19, 2000 and she married Michael P. Thompson on October 19, 2002. Barbara worked as a developmental home care provider for Upper Valley Services in Bradford, VT for many years. She loved to spend time in the outdoors, working in her gardens, fishing, and riding snowmachines. Barbara enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, friends, and all her animals. She loved the time spent with Mike at the Lebanon Valley Speedway and when she had the opportunity to drive his racecar in a powderpuff race. Barbara was the secretary and treasurer for the V.A.S.T. Newbury Border Riders for many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph P. Venezia Sr. in November of 1991 and Mary P. (Doyle) Venezia in September of 2012; and a sister, Mary Louise Parisi. Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Michael P. Thompson of Wells River, VT; two sisters, Jacalyn Coyne and husband David of Farmington, CT and Kathryn Rockholz and companion Eric Goodman of Chalfont, PA; a brother, Ralph P. Venezia, Jr. and wife Barbara of Waitsfield, VT; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and June Thompson of Thomaston, CT; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Calling hours will be on Monday, December 10, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Tuesday, from 10 AM until the service time at 11 AM. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 11, at 11 AM at the Ricker Funeral Home, with Rev. Donna D. Colletti-Lowre of the Hope Church at Vermont Skies Spiritual Center in Peacham, VT.
