Pike, NH- Barry Jay Young, 60, died unexpectedly at his home on Lime Kiln Road on Friday, May 29, 2015. Barry was born in Haverhill, NH on July 30, 1954, to Gerald and Catherine Avis (LaVoice) Young. Barry worked for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation as a grader operator out of the Wentworth Shed # 202. He also was a partner in B&B Trucking and worked at the former Gerrity Lumber in Woodsville. Barry loved working for the DOT and took great pride in his work. He was a former member of the Haverhill Corner Fire Department and during the early 1980's, he volunteered to fight forest fires in the western US. An avid outdoorsman, Barry enjoyed hunting and bow hunting. He was most passionate about fishing and loved boating both on the ocean and in fresh water. In his spare time, he enjoyed metal scrapping. As a handyman, he could repair anything. He was always pleased to help his fellow man. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Catherine Young; a sister, Patricia Naylor; and two brothers, Gerald R. and Benny Young. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Joanne (Prescott) Young, of Pike, to whom he was married on May 28, 2005; a son, Allen Young of Pike; a daughter, Lisa Chase of North Haverhill; Joanne's children, Jennifer Larson and husband James of Salem, CT, Billy Joe Boutin and companion Tara Frizzell of Pike, NH, and Katie Field and husband Andrew of Fairlee, VT; two grandchildren, Thorin Larson and Autumn Boutin; three sisters, Marguerite "Peggy" Donlon and husband Dave of Pike and Bonnie Hanson and husband "Butch" of Haverhill, NH; two brothers, Carroll E. Young and wife Verna and Brian H. F. Young and wife Cheryl, all of North Haverhill; 3 sisters-in-law, Pam Young of Plymouth, NH, Marlene Young of Willsboro, NY, and Gloria Young of Idaho; two special children in his life, Gabrielle Keysar and Evan Rollins; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dog, Kasha. Also surviving are members of the Prescott family, mother-in-law, Lorraine Prescott of North Haverhill; sister-in-law, Donna Bixby and husband Tim of Haverhill; and brother-in-law, Bill Prescott of North Haverhill. Calling hours will be Sunday, June 7 from 4-6 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will be on Monday, June 8, at 11 AM in the East Haverhill Church, Lime Kiln Road, East Haverhill, with Rev. Steven Seminerio officiating.
