Obituary

South Ryegate, VT – Beatrice Jeanette "Beatie" Zampieri, 95, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at The Pine Rehabilitation, in Lyndonville , VT.

She was born in Newbury , VT , January 29, 1920, a daughter of James and Betsy (Rugg) Demeritt. Beatie graduated from Woodsville High School Class of 1939 and married Giovanni "John" Zampieri on July 18, 1939. Beatie and John honeymooned at Old Orchard Beach , ME and continued to return to the beach for annual family vacations.

They raised their family in South Ryegate where she was a member of the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church and Women's Club. She was also a member of the South Ryegate Mother's Club. Beatie loved dancing, teaching square dancing, cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed teaching swimming lessons to countless village children and telling a good joke. Beatie was also awarded an MVP trophy for her basketball playing skills in high school. For several years she was a substitute in the hot lunch program in the South Ryegate School . Following retirement they wintered in Lake Wales , FL for eighteen seasons.

She was predeceased by her husband Giovanni "John" Zampieri on March 26, 2000; an infant son, David, and later another son, David; two sisters, Muriel Roberts and Kathleen Knight; and two brothers, John and James "Bud" Demeritt.

Surviving family members include a daughter, Vicki Cowens and husband David of Calais, VT; three sons, John Zampieri and wife Joyce of South Ryegate, Thomas Zampieri and wife Ginger of Pearland, TX, and Michael "Burger" Zampieri and friend Rae of St. Pete Beach, FL; eight grandchildren Roxanna and Rebecca Zampieri, Stacy Souliere, Jason Zampieri, Maria Khan, Danny Zampieri, Jazmin Zampieri, Jamie and Alison Cowens, four great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 11 AM in the Pinehurst Cemetery , South Ryegate , VT, with Rev. Carol Ann Barker from the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church officiating.
