Obituary

Woodsville, NH- Benjamin Leslie Skip Elliott, Jr.,74, of Highland Street died on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the VA Medical Center, White River Junction, VT. Skip was born in Benton, NH on October 6, 1939, to Benjamin Leslie and Helen (Cheney) Elliott, Sr. Skip enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served from October 14, 1958 through October 12, 1962. On February 21, 1959, he married Patricia Ann Manning. Skip worked as an auto mechanic at the Sunoco station in Lisbon, NH for 20 years. After that he worked for Crosstown Motors in Littleton, NH before retiring from Nelson s Auto in Littleton in the mid 1990 s. An avid racing fan, Skip actually raced at numerous tracks throughout the Northeast. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Race Car Drivers. Skip did volunteer work for AHEAD making Thanksgiving baskets and fundraising for the playground at the AHEAD housing in Woodsville. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, especially raising tomatoes, fishing, and hunting. He was passionate about his family, cherished the time spent with this grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved family gatherings. Skip was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Helen Elliott, Sr.; a sister, Virginia; three brothers, Ike, David, and Ralph; and a son in law, Terry Morton. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Elliott of Woodsville; their children, Rose M. Disensi and husband Frank of St. Louis, MO, Carol A. Elliott of Las Vegas, NV, Barbara L. Morton and companion Chris of Lisbon, NH, Benjamin L. Elliott III and wife Yong of North Haverhill, NH, Jeffrey S. Elliott of Barre, VT, and Douglas E. Chase of Lisbon; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; his siblings, Larry Elliott and wife Rena of Littleton, Jane Lucas and husband Willard of Bethlehem, NH, and Keith Elliott and companion Donna of Lewiston, ME; a sister in law, June Elliott of Littleton; a brother in law, Warren Manning and wife Sandy of Lisbon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be on Monday, September 8, from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 9 at 1 PM, at Ricker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Benton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry, 41 Nazarene Drive, North Haverhill, NH 03774.
