Obituary

Piermont, NH Bertrand Everett Keniston, Jr., died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at his home. He was born in Haverhill, NH, February 26, 1928, the son of Bertrand E. and Mary S. (Morin) Keniston, Sr. Bertrand graduated from Bradford Academy. He served with U. S. Army from 1951 to 1955. Bertrand married Doris Grimes. He began his working career as a teller at the Bradford National Bank then ran the family dairy farm in Piermont for many years. Bertrand and Doris served as foster parents for over 30 years, fostering 29 boys over these years. He was a former member of the Piermont Fire Department and was very active in the interests and town affairs of Piermont. He loved vegetable gardening, freezing and canning them, and would provide vegetables to area food shelves and senior centers. He was very enthusiastic about playing badminton and had played in tournaments throughout New England. He was well admired by his family and friends and was trusted by those who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris on June 17, 2004; two brothers, Hugh Keniston and Roger Noyes. Survivors include a sister, Henrietta Aldrich and husband Ken of Waterford, VT; a brother, George Noyes and wife Camilia of Norfolk, MA; a foster son, James Allen of Piermont; along with many other foster sons and their families; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 11 AM at the Piermont Congregational Church with Pastor Malcolm Kircher, and Rev. Bryan Bessette officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the South Lawn Cemetery, Piermont, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Piermont Congregational Church, c/o Food Shelf, 101 Church Street, PO Box 95, Piermont, NH 03779 or the Bradford Churches Food Shelf, 172 Main Street, Bradford, VT 05033.
