Newbury, VT- Betty Emerson, 87, of Snake Road passed away on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, at her home.
She was born on June 20th, 1935, to Burt O. Wheeler and Blanche E. (Adams) Oliver.
After high school she married Earl Emerson on July 25, 1953. They lived in Saxtons River, VT, White River Junction, VT, Essex Junction, VT and finally settling in Newbury, VT, in 1971. She worked at 4 Aces Diner, JJ Newbury, Howard National Bank, Lebanon National Bank, and the Glencliff Home, before she found a job she loved, which was being a bookkeeper for Woodsville Water & Light for over 25 years until retiring in 1998.
In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, deer hunting and was very active in assisting with sugaring for maple syrup.
She is predeceased by her husband, Earl R. Emerson on August 17, 2014; her daughter, Rebecca Conrad on August 22, 2021; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Conrad July 25, 2001; a brother, Robert Wheeler on May 2, 2022; and a sister, Nancy Underhill on June 20, 2019.
She is survived by her son, Mike Emerson of Newbury, VT; two grandchildren, Allison Lachance and husband Rollie of Pike, NH, and John Conrad and his wife Jen of Palm Bay, FL; three brothers, Steven Wheeler and wife Lynn of Woodsville, NH, James Wheeler of West Newbury, VT, and Charles Wheeler and wife Rhonda of Newbury, VT; three sisters, Mary Smith of West Newbury, VT, Josephine Rivera and her husband Ismeal, of Jewett City, CT and Donna Lufkin of Newbury, VT ; a son-in-law, Mike Conrad of Pike, NH; five great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren with two more on the way, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rev. David Pruitt will celebrate a graveside service at the Town House Cemetery, Scotch Hollow Rd, Newbury, on Saturday May 6, 2023, at 1PM.
