Barre, Vermont- Betty Ayers Paton, 83, passed away on Sunday, August 6th, 2023, at Barre Gardens with her family at her side.

She was born in Waterbury Vermont on August 26th, 1939, a daughter of Lester and Doris Ayers. She grew up in Waterbury and attended public school. She married Robert Paton and together they moved to Chelsea, Vermont and had three sons.

She worked for many years at Bradford Veneer and Panel Co.  In her free time, she enjoyed watching races at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vermont, large family gatherings and cookouts, fishing mostly at night for hornpout and crocheting. She was known for her good cooking, and homemade pizza nights.

She is predeceased by her long-time partner; Bill Gilson; her 18 siblings, Theodore, Clarabelle, Doris, Lawrence, Edward, Lowell, Ruth, Florence, Dwayne, Wayne, Ernest, Horold, Roland, Donna, Howard; and 3 infant siblings.

She is survived by her three sons; Michael Paton and wife Christina of Wells River, VT, Francis Paton of Orleans, VT, Robert Paton of West Lebanon, NH; 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Robert, Timmy, Aleasha, Michael Jr, Josh, Melinda, Shiann, and Tyler; 6 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services for Betty will be on August 26, 2023 at 10 AM at Oxbow Cemetery in Newbury, VT.
