Betty Elliott Sawyer went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 17th, 2023.

Betty was born in Benton, NH, to John and Mildred Ball Elliott on September 28, 1934, the 11th child and seventh daughter of fourteen children. She was a graduate of Haverhill Academy Class of 1952.

On October 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, Merrill "Tom" Sawyer in Key West, Florida. Tom was an officer in the Navy and served 23 years.  Following Tom's retirement in 1973, they owned and operated a Montgomery Ward franchise in Woodsville, NH.  They eventually spent many winters in Florida and travelled extensively.

Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed painting and crafting. Her main joy was her family and her church.

She is survived by her children Laurie Elliott and husband Dan, of Benton, NH; Timothy Sawyer of Bath, NH; Amy Sawyer Fogg of Bath; NH, and James Sawyer and wife Lisa, of Hampton, Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jim Elliott, and sister Jeannette Brown, both of Benton.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Tom on February 9th, 2012, and siblings, Ben, Mary, Ella, Russ, Nora, John, Bob, Laura, Joan, Ruth, and Norma.

Betty was a member of the Benton Bible Chapel and Bath Historical Society.

Services will be on Saturday December 2, 2023 at 11AM at the Benton Bible Chapel, 504 Bradley Hill Rd, Benton, NH 03785, with interment in the spring at Swiftwater Cemetery, Bath, NH on June 3, 2024, at 1PM

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the Benton Bible Chapel.
