Monroe, NH- Betty Jane (Pierce) Ward, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH. Betty was born in Lyndonville, VT, on November 19, 1928, to Leslie and Mildred (Grady) Pierce. She graduated from Lyndon Institute, Lyndonville, VT. Betty later graduated from Brightlook Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in St. Johnsbury, VT. She married Philip H. Ward on September 3, 1950. Betty and her husband Philip owned and operated the Mt. View Farm in Monroe. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Philip H. Ward on November 16, 2008; a sister, Marjorie Pierce; and two brothers, James Pierce and Wallace Pierce. Survivors include her six children, Linda Clark and husband James of Monroe, Sharon Ward of Monroe, Pamela VanDenBerg amd husband James of Green Bay, WI, Gary Ward and wife Tina of Monroe, Philip M. Ward and Terri of Littleton, NH, and Bryan Ward and Debbie of Monroe; four grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Wakefield of Lyndonville, Janice Trush and husband Paul of Lyndonville, and Colleen Kerr and husband Tom of Waitsfield, VT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on Saturday, August 2, at 11 AM at the North Monroe Cemetery.
