Obituary

Woodsville, NH – Billie Francine Locke, formerly of King Street, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH, where she had been a resident for the past 3 years.

She was born in Cedar Falls, NC, May 6, 1934, the daughter of Emma Inez Morgan and Clyde Upton, and later became a resident of Greensboro, NC.  Billie met Galand B. Locke, the love of her life, who was a Bath, NH native stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, where he was a member of the US Air Force.  They married on January 15, 1953.  Upon his discharge they returned to Bath, where they purchased and continued to operate the Locke farm for many years. They also dabbled in real estate and later antiques.  In 1981, they moved from the farm in Bath…"down street"… into Woodsville, as they called it.  Billie then worked for a time outside the home at Burndy Corporation, where she was able to travel back and forth from Mexico, as the plant was being faded out of operation.  She later went to work at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville doing what she really loved….cooking.   She loved animals her entire life, and she cared for them like they were her children.

For many years they maintained a winter home in the Greensboro, NC area.

Billie had one brother Percy Morgan (Buddy, as she always called him), who lived in Greensboro with his wife Barbara.  Their six children, a daughter and five sons, were shared with Billie and Galand, known as Uncle Bob, and they developed a tight bond with their niece and nephews; a bond that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Billie is survived by these children, a loving niece Chi-Chi Hodges and husband Larry of McLeansville, NC, along with nephews Larry Morgan, Clark Morgan, Mark Morgan, Terry Morgan, and Rex Morgan, and their families, all of North Carolina, who will treasure the fond memories of their Aunt.  She is also locally survived by sisters and brothers-in-law and their families.

As much as we will miss Billie here on earth, we do know that to be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord.  She is home now, happily reunited with her husband Galand, brother Buddy, mother Emma Inez, and all her loved ones who have gone on before her, and her precious animals.

A special Thank You to her sister-in-law Thelma Locke who visited her often and to the Grafton County Nursing Home, for the wonderful care they provided.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be on Friday, November 3rd, at 11 AM in the North Monroe Cemetery, Monroe, NH.
