South Ryegate, VT – Brenda J. (Darling) Emerson, 65, died on Sunday morning, April 22, 2018, with her family at her side, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH.

Brenda was born in Haverhill, NH on May 1, 1952, a daughter of Newton H. and Addie M. (Carpenter) Darling III.

She enjoyed growing up on the farms, particularly the French Farm in Groton.  Brenda enjoyed horses, farming, local fairs, 4-H, and helping her family members with cattle shows.  She loved the "camp" at Groton Pond, Elvis, sharing her sense of humor with others, and doing all the family traditions.  Brenda loved being with her family playing games, crafts, and storytelling with her grandchildren over the years, and most recently her grandson, Isaac who has been living at her home.  Brenda was a waitress at local restaurants for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Philip R. Emerson on Sept 18, 1987; her father, Newt Darling III on Dec. 19, 1993, and mother, Addie Darling on February 1, 2009; a sister, Diane Darling on Oct. 3, 1970; two brothers, Gary Darling on Dec. 11, 1991, and David Darling, Sr., on Dec. 24, 2007; and a step daughter, Andrea R. Emerson on January 3, 2000.

Survivors include her children, Scott Farquharson and wife Karen of South Ryegate,  Corey Farquharson and wife Lynn of South Ryegate,  Heidi Jones and husband Jason of San Diego, CA, Diane Farquharson and Travis Haggett of South Ryegate, and Kristin Farquharson and Jon Bortree of South Ryegate; three step children, Barry Emerson and wife Kristin of Corinth, VT, Philip "Buzz" Emerson and wife Stacy of Topsham, VT, and Alison Emerson of Burlington, VT; 13 grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan, Trevor, Chelsea, Ryan, Evan, Laura, Emily, Alex, Abigail, Sydney, Sierra, and Isaac; a great granddaughter, Adeline; a sister, Bonnie M. Bound and husband James of Wolcott, VT; her beloved dog, Memphis aka "Kevin"; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, April 26, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.

The funeral service will be on Friday, April 27, at 1 PM in the Groton United Methodist Church, 1397 Scott Highway, Groton, VT.   Burial will held at the convenience of the family in the Groton Village Cemetery.
