Obituary

West Topsham, VT - Brian John Germain, 68, of West Topsham, passed away on October 29, 2025, at Cottage Hospital of Woodsville, NH.

He was born to Edith Rose (Brunelle) and Joseph Hormidose Germain on February 13, 1957, in Woodsville, NH. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maria Germain.

He is survived by his brothers; Philip Germain of Milton, FL, Frederick Germain of Lincoln, NH, James Germain and his wife Lora (Barton) of Keene, NH, Joseph Germain and his husband Roland (Gigandet) of Orlando, FL; his sister Sarahjean (Germain) Harris and her husband Thomas of North Haverhill, NH; his son Shawn Germain Sr. and wife Casey (Dery); his grandson Shawn Germain Jr. of Orange VT and his granddaughter Brooke Dery and her partner Garret and three great grandchildren of Orange, VT; his stepson, Chris Berquist, and his partner, Kendra, and their two children of East Topsham, VT. Brian is also survived by his life partner, Melissa Osmer, of West Topsham, VT, and her son, Jordan Osmer, and his wife, Desirae, and their three children of Barre Town, VT; her daughter Rebecca Osmer and partner Aaron, and her child of West Topsham, VT; and her daughter Hannah Osmer and partner Hunter of West Topsham, VT. Brian had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his good friend Bruce Ordway of West Topsham, VT

Brian attended James R. Morrill School and Woodsville High School. His occupation was a carpenter, and he enjoyed teaching his son the tricks of the trade.

As a child growing up, some of his fondest memories were playing in the woods on Briar Hill with siblings and many cousins.
Brian had many hobbies, like going to Bear Ridge Speedway, snowmobiling, camping, hunting, riding motorcycles, and watching the horse pulls at the North Haverhill Fair.

For the past number of years, he enjoyed taking many trips, cruises, and going to casinos with his life partner, Melissa. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Thank you to Cottage Hospital for their exceptional care, and a very special thank you to Brian's niece, Linda Harris.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the Riverside Grange, 4 Batten Road, West Topsham, VT, on November 15, 2025, from 1 – 3 PM.
