Brian L
Morse
September 2, 2024
On September 2, 2024, with his family by his side, Brian Lee Morse left behind a body, once strong enough to raise roofs, climb mountains and explore trout-filled waters, that had become weakened over the past year by the ravages of cancer.
Brian was born in New Britian, Connecticut on July 21, 1951, to Leon and Fannie Morse. He grew up in Connecticut, graduating in 1969 from Southington High School. He met his wife Margaret Rousseau in Connecticut, and they would be married for 51 years.
Urban life did not align well with Brian's interests, and in 1982, Brian and Margaret began building their first home with the help of family and friends near Shadow Lake Road in Concord. This would be the first of three homes Brian constructed from the ground up. After living by the lake became too busy for his preference, Brian and his family constructed their second home in Sheffield. Once the kids were grown and out of the house, his third and final project was to build a smaller home for he and Margaret to enjoy their retirement in Monroe, NH.
As his parents were already aged when he entered the world, Brian learned to be independent and to teach himself the skills necessary to pursue his interests. These interests included construction, hunting, fly fishing, and primitive bow making, among others. Brian was most comfortable working with his hands or exploring the outdoors. Fly fishing was his passion and he shared that passion by teaching many others to land a fly on the water with ease. He found great pleasure in the outdoors at the camp he and his son built on the Magalloway River in Maine. The annual trips there in November brought him great joy. As the years went on, he became the camp fire tender while the younger hunters traversed the hills and Brian stayed closer to camp.
Brian was proud, independent, self-taught, and had a sharp sense of humor. He will be missed by his wife Margaret, son Eric, daughter Andrea Day and her husband Kyle, daughter-in-law Nikki Morse and grandchildren Sadie Kurt Morse, Bella Morse, Lyza Morse, Lyla Day and Jayce Day. He was predeceased by his parents, in-laws John and Lea Rousseau, and son Jonathan Morse.
A celebration of life will be held at the Monroe Town Hall, 50 Main Street, Monroe, NH on October 5 at 1pm. A private burial will occur at a later date.
