Obituary

Pike, NH – Bruno A. Fournier, 86, died Monday July 31, 2023, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH, with his loving wife and daughters by his side following a brief illness.

He was born on June 2, 1937, in East Hereford, Quebec, son of Alcée and Florida (Gagner) Fournier.  He was proud to be part of a large family and was one of 16 children.

Bruno worked for many years for Bradford Oil Co. where he did plumbing and heating work.  He liked to point out nearly every home and business that he did work for while driving to various destinations.  As a young man, he was a volunteer firefighter in Woodsville, NH and served 6 years in the National Guard.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, pitching horseshoes, and raising a vegetable garden.  He spent many hours mowing acres of his lawn on his John Deere 332 tractor.  He enjoyed travelling, but the place he looked forward to going to the most was to his house in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where he travelled to nearly every summer for the past 43 years.

Bruno is survived by his wife, Alice (McConnell). They were married for 60 years. They have two daughters, Karen Steensen of Raymond, NH and Sylvia Fournier and partner Lynda Kuhne of Durham, NH. They have three grandchildren: Danielle Omand and husband Tristan and great granddaughter, Norah (the apple of his eye) of Manchester, NH; Craig Steensen and partner Kelli O'Connor of Nottingham, NH; and Chelsea Steensen and partner Stephen O'Sullivan of Berlin, Germany.

He is survived by his brothers Fernand of Manlius, NY, Raoul and his wife Claire of Littleton, NH, Richard of Monroe, NH; and sister Blandine Dube of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH 03780 on August 12, 2023, from 1-3pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care, 154 Hitchcock Loop Rd, Lebanon, NH 03766 or to a charity of your choice.
