Sugar Hill, NH- Carolyn E. Grass, 88, died at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH on March 16, 2009. Carolyn was born on December 6, 1920, in Haverhill, NH, to Everett Fowler and Dorothy M. (Meader) Sawyer. She was a graduate of Haverhill Academy. Carolyn worked as a Registered Nurse and Operating Room Supervisor at Littleton Hospital. She also served in the Army Nurse Corp during World War II. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Grass, Jr. on April 11, 1978, and by three brothers, Tink, Clifford, and Richard Sawyer. She is survived by her daughter Norma Jean Grass McLean and husband Hugh of Sugar Hill; her grandson Aaron McLean who is serving with the US Army 82nd Airborne in Iraq; her granddaughter Molly McLean of Sugar Hill; her son Everett S. Grass of Spencer, MA; two brothers, Everett Sawyer of North Haverhill, NH and Merrill Sawyer of Bath, NH; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be on May 16, 2009, at 10AM in Horse Meadow Cemetery, North Haverhill with a reception for family and friends at 1 PM at the McLean residence, Main Street, Sugar Hill.
