Peacham, VT- Charles A. Morrison-a quiet gentle man, a farmer, a respected family man, a faithful servant of his church-has passed away at The Pines in Lyndonville, VT, on December 6, 2016 after a slow decline of some months. He follows his beloved wife, Iris Cooley Morrison who predeceased him in March of 2016, after 70 years of marriage.
Charles Alexander Morrison, son of "Lex" and Irene Morrison, was born May 15, 1923, on the farm in Peacham, VT, where he spent his childhood and all but a couple of years of his adult life. He was educated at Peacham Academy followed by a year at UVM before returning to the home farm during the war years. He married Iris Cooley on July 20, 1945. Together, they raised five children on the farm up the hill from West Barnet where he, himself, had grown up and, with his wife, Iris, were the fourth generation owners. He was a faithful member, treasurer, and elder of The Presbyterian Church of Barnet at West Barnet, serving as Clerk of Session for thirty years. He served on the Peacham school board for nine years.
Charles is survived by four sons, Reginald Morrison and wife Wanda of Lenexa, KS, Richard Morrison and wife Valerie of Craftsbury, VT, Leslie Morrison and wife, Melody of Peacham, and Edgar Morrison of Peacham; seven grandchildren, Hope Morrison Johnston, Ethan Morrison, Tad Morrison, Alexander Morrison, Lisa Hasenbeck, Earl Morrison, and Greg Morrison; seven great grandchildren, Abigail Johnston, Caroline Johnston, Margaret Johnston, Susannah Johnston, Luke Morrison, Caleb Morrison, and Alexia Hasenbeck.
Along with his wife, Iris, Charles was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Morrison, his sister, Christina Jackman and her husband Bob Jackman of Montpelier, VT.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 15, from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.
A memorial service will be at The Presbyterian Church of Barnet at West Barnet, 279 West Main Street, West Barnet, on Friday, December 16, at 2 PM. Rev. Dr. Howard Gaston will officiate.
Burial will be in the Peacham Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
