Plymouth , NH -- Chester R. Ireland, 93, a long-time resident of Plymouth, passed into the presence of his Savior May 26, 2017, at Grafton County Nursing Home.

Chet was born July 8, 1923, in Milford, NH, a son of Chester and Beatrice (Turner) Ireland.  He attended Milford schools and also spent time at the Farm and Trades School on Thompson's Island in Boston Harbor.

Prior to serving three years in the US Navy, Chet was employed by Hayward Farms and Lorden Lumber Company.  Following his service in the Navy, he started C.R. Ireland Trucking.  He married Lois Yeaton in 1949.

In 1965, Chet started Ireland Lumber Company, Inc. and remained active in the sawmill business into his early eighties.

He was a charter member of Baker River Bible Church of Wentworth, where he served as a deacon for many years.

Family members include his daughter Sara Tatham and husband Steve, and his daughter-in-law Jackie Ireland, all of Plymouth; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Dean Yeaton and wife Rachel and sister-in-law Rosalie Yeaton, all of Plymouth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chet was predeceased by his wife Lois, sons Mike and Tim, and daughter Laurie; his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Mary Ireland; and also by his first wife, Dolly, and their daughter, Patricia.

There are no calling hours.  A private family graveside service will be held in early June.
