Woodsville, NH- Claude Leslie Gadwah, Jr., 81, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville following a period of declining health. Claude was born on December 30, 1932, in Haverhill, NH to Claude L. Gadwah, Sr. and Cyrena (Jolin) Getchell. He was a graduate of Woodsville High School, Class of 1950. On February 17, 1951, he married Jacquelyn Jackie Lucas. Claude worked as a truck driver over the years and also was employed as a manager at Gerrity Building Center in Woodsville. He was a member of the NH National Guard, Battery C, also of Woodsville. Claude was active in numerous community groups including the Ammonoosuc Fish and Game Club, Cohase Lions Club, Grafton-Kane Lodge # 46 of North Haverhill, Bektash Shrine of Concord, NH, the Shrine Hillbillies, Ross-Wood American Legion Post #30, Haverhill VFW Post # 5245, and the Littleton Elks. He was predeceased by a brother, Gene Gadwah on April 8, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jackie Lucas Gadwah; two daughters, Cyrena Gadwah and Raymond Thayer of North Haverhill and Jean Adams and husband Tom of Woodsville; two sons, Larry Gadwah and wife Linda of Littleton, NH and Gary Gadwah and wife Cindy of Bath, NH; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Dean Gadwah and wife Bernice of Lebanon, NH; and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Claude s wishes, there are no public services being planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
