Woodsville, NH-  Dale Bertrand Powers, 82, died on Friday, June 22, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Dale was born on November 5, 1935, in Lowell, VT, a son of Bertrand Harrison and Viola Etta (Smith) Powers.  On January 27, 1956, he married Francese Ann Chamberlain.

For over 37 years, Dale worked at Newman Lumber in Woodsville.

Dale built a house in Bath, where he and his family lived for 14 years.  He enjoyed snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle.  Along with Francese, he loved traveling throughout the USA and Canada in their motorhome.  They spent many years traveling between their camp in Pittsburg, NH, their home in Woodsville, and Florida…when they weren't traveling elsewhere!  Dale liked planting flowers, watching the birds, and tinkering around his house.  In particular, he loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings.  Dale had many special friends whom he had met over his working career and through his travels.

Dale is survived by his wife of 62 years, Francese Powers of Woodsville; four children, Gary Powers of North Haverhill, NH, Debra Millay and husband Roger of Union, ME, Anita Locke of Newbury, VT, and Mary Fitchett and husband, Chris of Grafton, NH; seven grandchildren, Kelly Hassanein, Sherrie Pereira, Melissa Fortune, Bryan Locke, Wesley Locke, Danyel Locke, and Erin Boucher; ten great grandchildren, Austin Owen, Ian Locke, Morgan Locke, Hunter Locke, Molly Sutherland, Lily Locke, Jaylin Pereira, Deklan Pereira, Vincent Locke, and Silas Locke;  a great great granddaughter, Ava Owen; two sisters, Shirley Pion of Newport Center, VT and Theda Allen of Franconia, NH; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dale was predeceased by a son Alan Powers on June 3, 1978.  He was also predeceased by his siblings, Hazel Morey Wheeler, Katie Blodgett Henley, Archie Powers, Roger Powers, and Elwin Powers (who died in childhood).

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, June 26th from 9:30-11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.

A private graveside service will be observed by Dale's family in the Bath Village Cemetery, Bath, NH.
