Obituary

Newbury, VT David Alan Boyce, 67, of Tenney Pond Road, died on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. He was born in Haverhill, NH, December 17, 1944, the son of Earl and Rhubertha (Oliver) Boyce. David attended a one room schoolhouse in Boltonville and the Newbury High School. He married Mary Lou Burroughs on August 1, 1964. David was first employed at the former Gulf service station in Wells River. He later drove truck for the former Armour Meat Company in Woodsville. For many years he hauled cheese from the Wells River Creamery to Connecticut for Gerald Beckley as well as driving school bus in the Blue Mountain Union school district. He also worked for his brother-in-law, Cliff Wright of Bradford. In 1987, he began his own excavation business, Dave s Trucking and Excavation. Each winter Dave could be seen on the Wells River Main Street clearing snow from the latest snow storm. He thoroughly enjoyed maple sugaring season, producing many gallons over the years. He enjoyed hunting camp, deer hunting, and playing horseshoes. David faithfully attended the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He coached and sponsored Dave s Trucking Team in the Men s Softball League in South Ryegate from 1989 to 2005. Each morning he would make the rounds with his coffee group, starting at the Jiffy Mart, then to South Ryegate at Alley s Market, stopping at P&H Truck Stop and finally ending up back at Jiffy Mart. He had many memories on several deep sea fishing trips. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Rhubertha Boyce; and a brother, George E. Boyce on April 15, 2009. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Boyce of Newbury; three children, Wanda Kosakowski and husband Stan of South Ryegate, twin sons, Bruce Boyce and wife Tania of Newbury and Brian Boyce and wife Cindy of Wells River; eight grandchildren, Josh, Zach (Hillary), Kim, Brandon (Cassie), Derick, Justin, Haley, and Shanon; one great granddaughter, Camille; two sisters, Beverly Wright of Bradford, VT and Barbara Welch of Newbury, VT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 22, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Friday, December 23 at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home. Burial will be in the spring at Boltonville Cemetery, Wells River, VT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
