Warren, NH – David Wayne Caverhill, 88, of Route 25, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at home following a time of declining health.
He was born in Ashland, NH, July 3, 1928, the son of Ulysses and Molly (Beaman) Caverhill. David worked for more than 38 years at the Glencliff Home for the Elderly as a maintenance engineer, serving as department head from 1980-1987, before retiring on August 1, 1987. He was a part-time farmer working these chores around his full time job. He also served as the Warren Chief of Police in the late 1960's and in the 1970's he assisted in the training and maneuvers of the Green Berets in the Warren area. He was recognized this summer as an honorary member of the Green Berets. He and his wife Helen enjoyed numerous camping adventures in their camper including a cross country tour.
He married Helen E. Hildreth on August 24, 1950, who predeceased him on December 11, 2003, by a son Wayne Caverhill in 1990, and two sisters Joan Wright and Patricia Chroniak.
Survivors include three daughters Charlene Weeks and husband Brian, Sandy Pike and husband Richard, both of Wentworth, NH, and Gloria Bumford and husband Bruce of Warren, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on Saturday, November 26th, at 1 PM in the Warren Village Cemetery. Rev. David Moore, pastor of the Warren United Methodist Church, will officiate.
