David
Evans
March 19, 2024
Peacham, VT - David Field Evans, 74, died peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on March 19, 2024.
He was born April 4, 1949, at Brightlook Hospital in St Johnsbury, VT to Sylvia (Field) and Clayton Evans. Dave had many fond memories of growing up on the McDonald Farm in Ryegate, VT. He was a 1968 graduate of the St Johnsbury Trade School. Dave served two stints in the US Navy (1968-1974 and 1979-1981) aboard the USS Providence, USS Richmond K. Turner and the USS Orion.
Dave enjoyed working with his father doing concrete work and construction as Evans Builders. Some of his other work experiences included Landmark Construction in Connecticut, and, after returning to Vermont, he worked for Earth Construction and several machine shops around the area, including NSA Industries. He loved helping his family with 'projects' and his place was often home base for them. Dave's family and friends have many fond memories of spending time together in the garage. His humor was like no other so you couldn't be around him without having a good laugh. Dave's stories will amuse us all for years to come.
Dave was so proud of his three sons –Ted, Steven and David –and the families they created. He loved being Grandpa Dave. He loved all of his family and friends with his whole heart and was always present for the grandkids' activities, family gatherings and all the special and everyday moments in between. Dave's other love was hunting. He looked forward to deer season all year and was the best hunting buddy his family and friends could ask for. Oh, how he loved to share the many, many hunting stories and adventures!
Dave is survived by his loving and caring wife, Diane, his sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Maureen, Steve and Tina, David and Brynn; stepchildren, Justin and Kara Hayes and Jennifer Hayes and partner, Floyd; sisters, Judy Butson and Lois Kinerson, the mother of his sons and friend, Debbie Davison; grandchildren, Jordan (Cass), Taylor, Keenan, Paige (Jon), Miranda (Jimmy), Katelynn, David, Amelia, Kaleigh, Eli, Gabriella; and great-grandchildren, Michayla, Dawson, Olivia and Carson.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Butson and Richard Kinerson.
Graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Barnet, VT, on May 11, 2024, at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will be held after the service at a location yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation in Dave's memory to Caledonia Home Health Care and Hospice at 165 Sherman Drive, St Johnsbury, VT 05819 or www.nchcvt.org
