Dennis E. Chase, 91, of Bath, NH, passed away suddenly with family by his side on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Cottage Hospital. Adored by family and friends, Dennis was the quintessential North Country Yankee-a stubborn, hardworking, and loving man. He loved his family, community, and country. He had a stroke and two heart attacks back in the spring. He had surgeries and was on the road to recovery, enjoying life once again. This unexpected loss was a shock to all.

Dennis was born in Haverhill, NH, to Lawrence and Eda (Moses) Chase on August 28, 1932. He moved to Bath, NH as a baby and spent the rest of his life there. He loved the little town and, at varying points, served as a selectman, church deacon, and fire chief.

Dennis graduated from Woodsville High School in 1951 and enlisted in the US Air Force shortly after. After serving in Europe during the Korean War, Dennis was honorably discharged in 1955. During the years after the war, he attended the University of Vermont, before he found work at
local paper mills. In 1999, Dennis retired from Simpson Paper in Gilman, VT.

Dennis enjoyed tending to his garden and mowing his lawn. He was an avid Boston sports fan. He enjoyed watching them as much as he enjoyed complaining about them. In his younger years, Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time outside, especially with his grandchildren. Dennis loved to sing, especially Christmas songs, no matter the season. The echoes of Silver bells and White Christmas will always have a special spot in his loved ones hearts.

Dennis was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Blanchard) Chase, and by his parents, Eda and Lawrence Chase. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Chase and her partner Greg Johnson, his son Daniel Chase; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with a ninth on the way; and two sisters Shirley Hesseltine and her husband Bob, and Dell Thompson

There will be a funeral service for Dennis at the Bath Congregational Church on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 PM, with Reverend Lyn Winter officiating, followed by a burial at the Bath Village Cemetery. A celebration of life BBQ will follow back at the church. Please feel free
to wear Boston Sports Team attire to the services, as we all know Dennis would love that!
