Groton, VT Don LaVerne Crum, 62, died on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at his home, with his family by his side. He was born in Glendale, Ohio, on July 10, 1946, the son of LaVerne and Golda (Cranfill) Crum. After graduation from high school, Don served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1982 when they moved to Groton. He has been the Director of Food Services at Blue Mountain Union School for the past 20 years. Don married Kathleen Acri on July 17, 1976. Don was a member of the Groton United Methodist Church, was a former member of the Groton Fire Department, served as a Lister for the Town of Groton, and was a Justice of the Peace. A passionate outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. Don is survived by his wife Kathy of Groton; his father LaVerne Crum of Cincinnati, OH; his daughters Andrea Tomko and husband Michael of Cincinnati, Nicole Crum of Groton; his sons Don Crum, Jr. and wife Lori of Florence, KY, Erich Crum and fiance Kathleen of Groton, and Greg Crum of Groton; six grandchildren; a sister Rebecca Wellbrock of Cincinnati; one nephew and several cousins. There will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 11 AM, at the Groton United Methodist Church with Pastor Candace Ricker, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Caledonia Home Health and Hospice, Sherman Drive, PO Box 383, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819 or to the Blue Mountain Union School, ATTN: Janet Gay, 2420 Route 302, Wells River, VT 05081 for the purpose of student activities.
