East Ryegate, VT Donald M. Murray, 84, died September 1, 2012, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH after a lengthy illness. Don was born in Rockingham, VT, on May 9, 1928, the ninth of ten children, to Kenneth N. and Jane (Heath) Murray. On May 27, 1953 he married the love of his life, Pauline Buskey. Together they built their home and raised their family. Don was a carpenter. He worked with his late brother-in-law, Ralph Page, then with the late Harold Lyons of St. Johnsbury, VT, prior to becoming self-employed. In later years, he spent time in his wood-working shop making things for his family. He loved his trips to Fryeburg Fair and watching the shows in the pulling ring. He enjoyed his camping trips and took great pride in his Class A motorhome. Don was always eager to host a family gathering at the pond behind his house. Survivors include his wife Pauline (Buskey) Murray; his son, Douglas Murray and wife Nancy of East Ryegate; his two daughters, Susan DeRusha and husband Chet of Wilton, ME, and Donna Murray of East Ryegate; his sisters Margaret (Murray) Strobridge and Christie Hersey and husband Cliff; and several nieces and nephews. Don was the proud grandfather of Jeremy, Jessica, Chris, Mike, Sonja and Ellie. He also enjoyed spending time with his five great grandchildren, Kyle, Jamie, Aidan, Chelsea, and Kortney. He was predeceased by his siblings, Annie, Jessie, Hazel, Roberta, Kenneth, Robert, and Norman. The family would like to thank Dr. Pratt, the nursing staff of Cottage Hospital, Caledonia Home Health and Hospice, Barb Vance, Melody Gamble, and a special thank you to his grandson Chris DeRusha for his care the last three months of his life. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 8th, at 11 AM in the Blue Mt. Cemetery, Ryegate Corner, VT, with Rev. Dr. Catherine Cook officiating.
