Groton, VT Donald Orrin Wetmore, 77, of Powder Spring Road, died on Monday, December 19, 2011, at his home. He was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania, September 26, 1934, the son of Edson and Ruth (Brace) Wetmore. Donald graduated from high school in Pennsylvania. He married Myrna Irene Frost on November 7, 1959. Donald served with the U.S. Coast Guard from February 19, 1957 to February 17, 1961. He worked most of his life in the Granite Industry around the Barre, VT area. Donald was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Woodsville, NH. He had a passion for photography, the Red Sox, sports, and news. He was predeceased by his wife, Myrna I. Wetmore on September 26, 2010; a grandson, William Quelch, on April 7, 1993, and a sister, Betty Jean Dale. Survivors include his four daughters, Diane Quelch and her husband Robert of Northfield, VT, Denise Wetmore of Groton, Debbie Johnson and her husband Wade Sr. of Groton, and Donna Chickering and her husband Fran of Otisfield, ME; seven grandchildren, Matthew Johnson and his wife Becky, Rebekah Quelch, Jeremy Quelch, Carla Johnson, Riley Chickering, Emery Chickering, and Jadon Wetmore; two step grandchildren, Erica Johnson and Wade Johnson, Jr. and his wife Christy; three step great grandchildren, Patricia, Austin, and James; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be on Thursday, December 22, at 1 PM at the First Baptist Church of Groton, Scott Memorial Highway, Groton, with Pastor Dennis Walton of The First Baptist Church of Groton officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Groton Village Cemetery, Groton, VT. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in care of Wells River Savings Bank for Denise and Jadon Wetmore / moving expenses.
