Donald A. White, 91, of North Haverhill, NH passed away at Grafton County Nursing Home on Saturday, April 29th, 2023.

Donald was born on October 15, 1931, to Oscar and Rachel (Smith) White. He graduated from Haverhill Academy in 1949 and was accepted to Plymouth State Teachers College where he graduated in 1953.  He enlisted in the United States Army on December 18th, 1953 and served overseas in Korea during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged on December 6, 1955, and served in the Army Reserves until 1961.   Donald returned to the US and found work as a teacher at Piermont School in January of 1956, then as teacher and principal at Franconia Elementary School retiring as principal of Bath Elementary School in 1986.  He was a member of the North Haverhill VFW.  He loved spending time outside, especially hiking and kayaking at the family camp on Little Squam.

He is predeceased by his parents, Oscar White and Rachel (Smith) White; wife, Judith Pillsbury; two sisters, Dorothy Hall, and Patricia Ingerson; and Jimmy Leigh, a displaced Korean child Donald cared for during his Army service and thenceforth considered family, sharing the same birthday by choice.

He is survived by his daughter, Gretta Pillsbury of North Haverhill, NH; two brothers, John "Jack" White and wife Judith of Leesburg, FL, and John Pollock and wife Bette of North Haverhill, NH; and close friends, Myong, Jia, JiEun, Samus, Mia, Sarah, Nicholas, and Jason, whom he always regarded as family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service for Donald will be on Tuesday, May 9th at 2 PM in Ladd Street Cemetery with Melissa Gould as a celebrant.
