North Haverhill, NH – Doris Virginia Shute, 74, died on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Charlestown, NH, February 6, 1937, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Edith (Pond) Stearns. Doris married Lawrence Stanley Shute on May 29, 1955. She raised her large family and helped her husband with the daily farm chores around their dairy farm. She later helped her daughter, Lisa, with a daycare business in Bradford, VT. Doris enjoyed Bingo, word search puzzles, yard sales, shopping, playing cards and going to her grandchildren's ball games. Her biggest enjoyment was being with her children and doting over her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence S. Shute, Sr. on July 17, 1998; a daughter, Pamela Shute; a sister, Florence Magoon ; and three brothers, Donald, Raymond, and Roger Stearns. Survivors include a son, Lawrence S. Shute, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; her seven daughters, Debbie A. Clark and husband Wayne of Texas, Paula J. Page of New Philadelphia, PA, Terry L. Carr of Indianapolis, IN, Mary A. Leavitt and husband Richard of Wells River, VT, Lisa M. Woodbeck and husband Robert of Piermont, NH, Wanda J. Shute, Wendy J. Paton of Haverhill; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Theodore Stearns and wife Irene of Claremont, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be in Center Haverhill Cemetery on Tuesday, June 14th at 11 AM with Pastor Susan Ellery of the North Haverhill United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
