Obituary

Woodsville, NH-  Dorothy Mitchell Hatch, 94, of Central Street, died on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville.

Dorothy was born in Lisbon, NH on December 10, 1921 to Chalon B. and Bessie (Evans) Mitchell.  She was a graduate of Bath High School, Class of 1940.  On August 26, 1943, she married Vernon Clark Hatch.

Dorothy worked at Richelson's Department Store in Plymouth for several years.  She was employed as a seamstress and cook at the Glencliff Home for over thirteen years.  She also worked for Dr. Kashita at Glencliff.

Dorothy was a member of the Glencliff Community Chapel and the Willing Worker's Hall, both in Glencliff.  She was a former member of the Grange in East Haverhill, NH.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and quilting, growing her flowers, as well as listening to music. She was an excellent cook and baker.   Along with Vern, she also enjoyed camping.  Mostly she treasured the time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of over 62 years, Vernon Hatch; a great granddaughter, Zabrina Hatch Bedell; a sister, Beverly Mitchell; and 5 brothers, Coleman B., Chalon S., Ira, Earle, and Denzil Mitchell.

She is survived by her 4 children, Denzil Vernon Hatch and wife Jill of Key West, FL, Sylvia (Hatch) Wells of St. Albans, VT, Sandra (Hatch) Peters and husband Gary of Bath, NH, and Stephen Wilder Hatch and wife Joanne of North Haverhill, NH; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Arlene Reed of Ghent, NY, Marion Bowman of Keene, NH, Jean Roy of Woodsville, and Margaret Elliott and husband James of Benton, NH; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be on Friday, August 5 at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, with Pastor Jim Burow of the Glencliff Community Chapel, officiating.

A private burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Glencliff Cemetery.
