North Haverhill, NH - Dorothy Augusta "Dot" Horne, 92, went to the arms of the Lord peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2015, at the Grafton County Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in Haverhill, NH, July 8, 1923, the daughter of Leon and Pearl (Hutchins) LaFrance. Dot graduated from Woodsville High School, class of 1941. She married the love of her life, Leslie Horne, and raised six children. She always had a smile for everyone she met and was determined to help everyone. Dot was hard working all her life as a caregiver, campground hostess, and a friendly store clerk until she turned 88. Her beloved husband of 50 years, Leslie passed on December 1, 1989, somehow she pressed on. Her loving and caring spirit and warming smile will be sadly missed. She was also predeceased by a son, John L. Horne; two daughters, Betty J. Horne and Nancy P. Reed; four sisters, Shirley Smith, Susan "Mickey' George, Carol Brill, and Betty Sulham; and by two brothers, Robert and Alfred LaFrance. She is survived by a daughter, Nellie L. Horne of White River, VT; two sons, Leslie G. Horne Jr. and wife Susan of Austin, Texas and James E. Horne of North Haverhill; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on Sunday, September 13, at 2:30 PM at the Center Haverhill Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne Chevalier of the Benton Bible Chapel officiating.
