Barnet, VT Douglas Decker Linzer, 70, died on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, VT. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, April 12, 1939, the son of George M. and Lorraine (Waeterling) Linzer. Doug graduated from SUNY in Delhi, NY and the Missouri Auction School. He was married to Wanda Crawford on December 26, 1964. In his early working career he was a self employed dairy farmer in New York State. Upon moving to Vermont in 1976, he was an auctioneer and ran a weekly sale in South Ryegate. He opened the Furniture Outlet in South Ryegate in the early 1980 s. Doug was a passionate golfer and a former member at the St. Johnsbury Country Club. He was a member of the Christian Science Church in Boston, MA. He was predeceased by his father, George M. Linzer and his mother, Lorraine W. Stryker on February 20, 2007. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Wanda Linzer of Barnet, VT; two daughters, Deborah Smith of Westminister, MD and Beverly Jenkins of Weare, NH; three grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Daniel Jenkins, and Matthew Jenkins. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Future Farmers of America or to the 4-H.
