Obituary

Newbury, VT Earl Raymond Emerson, 83, of Snake Road, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH, following a period of declining health. He was born in Newbury, July 23, 1931 a son of Harold E. and Katherine M. (White) Emerson. Earl first worked for 13 years with the Ralston Purina Company as a Manager in West Lebanon, and later Essex Junction, VT. Then, for several years he was a mechanic at area garages in the Upper Valley. He was also a self employed logger. Earl was a life member of Haverhill Memorial VFW Post # 5245 of North Haverhill, was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, enjoyed snowmobiling, loved his dogs, and was a maple syrup producer. He was married to Betty Wheeler in Brimfield, MA, July 25, 1953. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Betty of Newbury, VT, and two children Becky Conrad and husband Mike of Pike, NH, and Mike Emerson of Newbury, VT, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, a sister Christina Jacobs of Bondsville, MA, and two brothers Richard Emerson and wife Royal of Wells River, VT, and Lawrence Emerson and wife Naomi of Greenfield, MA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great granddaughter Kaitlyn R. Conrad on July 25, 2001, and his siblings Beverly Tucker, Ivis Peterson, Mildred Clifford, Alfred Emerson, and Irene Bushaw. In keeping with Earl s wishes, there are no public services being planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 215 North Main Street, White River Junction, VT 05009.
