Haverhill, NH Earle Russell Blake, Jr., 83, died April 11, 2008, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH following an extended illness. He was born in Haverhill, NH, June 18, 1924, a son of Earle R. and Lydia (Sargent) Blake, Sr. Earle served in the U. S. Army during World War II with the 90th Airdrome Squadron from 1942 until his discharge in February 1946. He took part in the China-Burma-India campaign. He had been a self- employed carpenter for several years and also worked at Con-Val in Ely,VT, for Al Britton Hardware and Building Supplies. Earle enjoyed the outdoors, be it hunting or fishing, along with carpentry and tinkering. He enjoyed traveling the Maine coast and staying at York Beach. Most important was his family, who were very special and dear to him. He married Gloria Cassady on January 21, 1946. Surivors include his wife 62 years Gloria of Haverhill and a daughter Gloria Root of Haverhill; one granddaughter, Angela Cassady of North Haverhill; and two great grandsons, Zachary T. Mann and Elijah C. Cassady. He was predeceased by his brother Herbert Blake. Private burial in Center Haverhill cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
