Obituary

Woodsville, NH- Eden Demming Aldrich, 81, formerly of Woodsville, died on September 8, 2008, at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH. Eden was born in Whitefield, NH, on August 1, 1927, to Bliss E. and Zephrine (Landry) Aldrich. He attended UNH during his final two years of high school and attained his high school diploma and associates degree in agriculture through a special education program, during WWII. Eden married Paulina Polly Hanks on August 1, 1946. He served as a herdsman in the early 1950 s at the Billings Farm in Woodstock, VT, and lived for several years in the Woodstock area. He purchased his first farm in Sharon, VT, where he farmed for six years. Upon moving to Woodsville, he owned and operated the Wild Rivers Farm from 1958-1997. He was a member of the Riverside Grange, Dalton, NH and a producer member of AgriMark Dairy. He was predeceased by a son, William B. Aldrich on May 23, 1977, and his wife Polly Aldrich on June 5, 2002. He is survived by a brother, Lawrence Aldrich and wife Phyllis of Plainfield, NH; six sons, Everett R. Aldrich and wife Cindy of Bethlehem, NH, Eden R. Aldrich and wife Susan of Woodsville, James J. Aldrich and wife Pam of North Haverhill, John C. Aldrich and wife Charlene of North Haverhill, Rodney D. Gerb Aldrich of Pike, NH, and Daniel P. Aldrich and wife Carolyn of North Haverhill; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 14th, from 3 to 5 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 15th at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with Rev. Susan Ellery of the Woodsville United Methodist Church and former Pastor Vadia Boudreau officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Woodsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grafton County 4H Leader s Association, C/O Grafton County Cooperative Extension Service, North Haverhill, NH, 03774.
