Dalton, NH- Edmond Henry Grenier, 89, formerly of Mountain Road, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH. Edmond was born on the Hancock Meadows in Bath, NH on October 29, 1923, one of eleven living children to Senai and Eva (Girard) Grenier. Edmond worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad prior to entering the US Army in which he served from 1942 to 1949. Edmond s Basic Training and Cavalry Training was at Fort Riley, KS. He then went to Alaska with the 714 Railway Operating Battalion. Later he received Military Police training at Fort Sam Houston and was sent to France with the 386 Military Police Battalion and finally to Yokohama, Japan with the 8th Army Headquarters in the Bank of Japan. Following his Honorable Discharge, he worked for the A&P in Woodsville before being transferred to the Whitefield store. Later he was employed by Butson s Supermarket and Norton Pike. He was a member of St. Matthew s Catholic Church in Whitefield, a member of the Holy Name Society, and served as an usher. He also belonged to the Lions Club and to the Rod and Gun Club. He was a charter member of VFW Post # 10675 and a member of the American Legion, both in Whitefield. He was predeceased by a son, Vincent Edmond Grenier on April 22, 2002; three brothers, Maurice, Ralph, and Leo Grenier; four sisters, Ann Lee, Jeanette Ross, Lucille Taylor, and Libby. He is survived by his wife, Th r se Delima (Poulin) Grenier, to whom he was married on February 18, 1950; two daughters, Christine Riley and husband Chuck of San Juan Capistrano, CA and Andree Aicardi and husband Bill of Northumberland, NH; three grandchildren, Shawn Grenier, Damian Mirello, and Matthew Grenier; three sisters, Doris Amstein of Winooski, VT, Dora Gordon of North Woodstock, NH, and Laurianne Phetteplace of North Haverhill, NH; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15 Pine Street, Woodsville, NH with Father Jeffrey Statz officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Bath NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Morrison Nursing Home, 6 Terrace Street, Whitefield, NH 03598.
