East Ryegate Edna Arlene Blood, 98, died February 2, 2009 at the Canterbury Inn, St. Johnsbury, VT, where she has resided since 2001. She was born in Waterford, VT, September 19, 1910 a daughter of Nelson and Ila (Remick) Joslin. Edna was a longtime East Ryegate resident and had previously worked for 30 years as a finisher at the former Ryegate Paper Mill, retiring in 1972. She was a life member of Corinthian Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Wells River. Edna married Clement R. Blood in May 1928 and he predeceased her in 1974. She was also predeceased by two daughters Winona Underwood in 1980, Ellen Hartshorn in 1998, a son Arnold C. Blood in 1987, a grandson Lendall Hartshorn in 2008, and a brother Bernard A. Joslin in 2006. Survivors include two daughters Elizabeth B. Williams of Durham, NH, and Janice Slayton Guillemette of Woodsville, NH; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, a sister Ora Pike of Stowe, VT, a brother Wayne Heywood of St. Johnsbury, VT, and several nieces nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on May 2, 2009, at 11 AM in the Riverside Cemetery, Waterford, VT.
