North Haverhill, NH-  Edna Reeder Emerson, 101, formerly of Laconia, Woodstock, Ashland and Piermont, NH, and Newbury, VT, died on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill.

Edna was born in Bentonville, AR, on December 25, 1916, to George S. and Hazel (Perrin) Reeder, and grew up in Nebraska.   She received her Bachelor of Religious Education from Hartford Seminary, Hartford, CT.

Edna was a member of the First Congregational Church of Newbury, VT.  She loved her large extended family, and devoted her life to teaching and helping children and young people.

On December 1, 1947, she married Harold Emerson.  He predeceased her on August 7, 1995.  She was also predeceased by her twin sister, Marian Prentice and another sister, Courtney Jones.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Emerson Burke and husband James of Groton, VT; a son, James Emerson and wife Judith of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, David and Ben Emerson and Allan Kirkpatrick and wife Cheryleen and Aaron Kirkpatrick and wife Christine; and great grandchildren, Jayden and Jaxson Emerson, Elle  Kirkpatrick; foster daughter Marcy Gatanti; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

At Edna's request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date that will be announced, at the First Congregational Church of Newbury.  A complete obituary will follow when the service date is known.

Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery, Woodstock, NH, at the convenience of Edna's family.
