Obituary

Warren, NH- Edward Rowe Lupien, Jr., 86, a lifelong Warren resident, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH. Eddie was born on August 26, 1928 in Warren, to Edward Rowe and India M. (Elliott) Lupien, Sr. He attended Warren Elementary School and Orford High School then went to school in Kansas City, MO for mechanics. He married Judith L. Bickford on April 30, 1958. Eddie had a varied working career, despite the fact that he lost his left arm at 14. As a young man, he was the night-watchman at the Moosilauke Inn. He worked for Dartmouth College at the Ravine Lodge. Among his other jobs for Dartmouth, he ran the ski rope tow. He also worked for his father at the Mica Crystal Company in Warren. He continued working as a logger, doing all of his own mechanical work. Eddie was a deputy Forest Fire Warden and a self-taught clock maker. For many years, he worked auctions for Archie Steenburgh and George Clement. Eddie was dedicated to service for others and volunteered at the Glencliff Home for eleven years. Along with his wife, Judy, they formed a corporation to get a new handicapped bus for the Home. He served as a board member for North Country Senior Action for twenty years. Eddie loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, especially with his father. He always looked forward to yearly vacations in Boothbay Harbor, ME. As Eddie had never completed high school, he was always encouraging people, young and old, to further their education. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and India Lupien, Sr.; a younger brother, Lewis Edward Lupien and an infant brother; his sister, Bernice Lamothe; two brothers-in-law, Roderick A. Lamothe and Michael Hurley; a niece, Helen Hurley; and a nephew, Peter Lamothe. Eddie is survived by his wife on 56 years, Judy Lupien of Warren; a sister, Bernadette Hurley of Peabody, MA; several cousins, nieces, and nephews, including two special nephews, William Hurley and John Hurley; two brothers in law, Grant R. Bickford and companion, Pat of Canterbury, NH and Grant s two girls, Melissa A. Bickford, his goddaughter, and LouAnn Murphy; James R. Bickford II and wife Renee` of Northfield, NH and their children James III and wife Molly, Brittany and her son Tucker, and goddaughter, Susan Cook from Cairo, GA; and a sister in law, Auralie Bickford of Yonkers, NY and her son Jeremy. At Eddie s request, there are no public services being planned.
